The vocational degree in Fine arts Sculpture is designed to form qualified professionals in the field of applied sculpture to:

- Reproduction of sculptures in stone, wood and metal.

- Monuments and commemorative objects.

- Creation of 3-Dimensional equipment for urban spaces, parks, fairs, etc.

- Scenographic facilities and performance spaces.

- Design and development of games and toys.

- Ornamentation and architectural restoration.

DECRETO 19/2016of July 7, which establishes the curriculum corresponding to the title of Higher Technician of Plastic Arts and Design in Sculptural Techniques in the Community of Castilla y León, and regulates the entrance exams.

Professional Profile

GENERAL COMPETENCE

 

  1. To elaborate original sculptural work of technical and artistic quality, from the own project or from a specific professional assignment.
  2. To plan the elaboration by defining the aesthetic, formal, functional, material and production aspects.
  3. To organize and carry out the different phases of the process, guaranteeing the safety of the operations and carrying out the corresponding quality controls until the finished product is obtained.

 

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

 

  1. To define the formal, functional, technical, material and aesthetic characteristics of an own project or of a given order, for the realization of sculptural work of applied and ornamental character.
  2. To make plans, sketches and drawings with color techniques, as well as to elaborate models and models to visualize the final result of the sculptural, ornamental and decorative works and to elaborate the documentation of the project.
  3. To plan and carry out the process of elaboration of sculptural works, according to the characteristics of the piece and the specifications of the project.
  4. To carry out the quality controls corresponding to each moment of the elaboration process in order to guarantee the technical and artistic quality of the pieces and to carry out their assembly.
  5. To know, select, prepare and use the most suitable materials according to the technical, formal, functional and aesthetic specifications of the project.
  6. To know the technical specifications of the tools, equipment, tools, tools and machinery in charge and to organize the periodic maintenance measures of the same.
  7. To estimate consumptions and calculate volumes and quartering to optimize the necessary material for the realization of the piece.
  8. To know and use the main techniques of wood carving.
  9. To know and use the main techniques of stone sculpture.
  10. To know and use the main techniques of casting and molding.
  11. To know and use the main techniques of artistic casting.
  12. To apply the patinas and protective coatings necessary for a good finish.
  13. To establish the conditions that guarantee the safety of the processing operations and the prevention of possible risks derived from their professional activity.
  14. To advise and coordinate work groups, organize the productive and creative process and accurately transmit the appropriate information to achieve the ideal result, both in teamwork and in obtaining the different wood sculptural products.
  15. To organize, administer and manage an artistic wood sculpture workshop, either as an employee, self-employed or in a cooperative, considering those artistic, technical, economic and safety factors essential in the work.
  16. To elaborate budgets in which the materials and procedures to be used are defined, and the costs are calculated from the technical, functional and aesthetic requirements, as well as the profitability of the work to be done.
